Manna Ministry

Background & Mission

"We love because He first loved." 1 John 4:19

ICA Manna was established in 2009 to help the poor in Hong Kong. This ministry focuses on fostering long-lasting relationships with the poor by caring for them through scheduled home visits, food distributions, tuitions and many other regular weekly and monthly activities.

ICA is working with these people to help them through their hardships, to bring them hope and to share the love of God.

Manna is serving over 1000 individuals who live below the poverty line.  It is because of the love that we have for the under-privileged that draws our hearts to them, and impress on us to show them Christ’s unconditional love. We believe we are blessed so that we can bless others. Our mission is to preach the Good News to all through our commitments. Our 165 volunteers know that our God is a God of action and their willingness to sacrifice their personal time and weekends will not be in vain. It’s all about being able to make a difference to the lives of others, in small or big ways.

Message from Nigel Sze - Manna Ministry Head

NigelSze I have been a banker for almost my entire career. I am a self-centered and a heart-hardened man, and making profits for my company and fulfilling my own needs is the ultimate game plan. I climbed the ladder to senior Management and believed it was all because of my own effort.

In 1999, when I first had a chance to raise funds for a local NGO, only did I realize, in front of my own eyes, how many single elderly were living in poverty and feeling hopelessness. I never knew how blessed I am. Since then God has never stopped putting a heavy burden in my heart. And up till now, whenever I pray for the poor, hearing testimonies from our volunteers or knowing people whom we have served through Manna accepted Jesus, I praise God with tears from my heart. God has changed me. His grace is always enough.

What is the meaning to life ? What are we storing on earth ? God has shown me that even as I face each day with job pressure, He can still use me to start Manna Ministry in 2009, from a small beginning to a relative strong base of volunteers covering over 10 activities in serving the poor in Hong Kong. We are blessed so that we can bless others. When we bless others, we will even be more blessed. Don't take my word, try it.

Message from Rev. Betty Chung - Overseeing Pastor

Rev Betty ChungTo me Manna is more than just providing food, or meeting the needs of the people. Through all that we do, I pray not only the ones we serve, but as laborers we’ll all experience the love and power of Jesus. The language of love and the power of Jesus break all barriers, whether it be class, race, culture or language. It is so encouraging to see volunteers in Manna come from all walks of life. For most, despite the cultural and language barriers, they choose to move away from their comfort zone to serve the poor. I invite you to join and be part of the local outreach ministry, where together we can make a difference in this city.

Proverbs 21:13 "If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and not be answered."
