English Translation:
This congregation was birthed in May 2009. Pastor Peter Lam assumed the Pastoral role for the Putonghua Congregation in May 2010. In 1989 Pastor Peter felt God speaking to him to serve the Chinese people; a strong vision on reaching out to them accompanied this. After taking four years to discern if this really was from God or not, he committed himself to theological training with the vision of global outreach in China. As the years past and his global outreach work in China grew Pastor Peter was seeking God's will and direction to find a solid church that supported and promoted this worldwide outreach. Through an acquaintance, something only God can arrange, Pastor Peter became aware of ICA and attended services whenever he could. His love for ICA grew as his love for his Lord and his global outreach work grew. He became part of ICA's congregation in 2008 but never thought about ministering here. Then in early 2010, as God moves in miraculous ways, He brought Pastor Peter a call to minister at ICA to the Putonghua speaking people. He describes it as a courtship as two people meet and try and find out if each likes the other. The romance went for a few months as each sought God's will, and finally, in April 2010 it all came together for Peter to begin his ministry to the Putonghua Congregation in May.
The Pastor's vision for his ministry is to serve and support the church members who have a global outreach vision for ministry to and in China. He has a great desire to bring strong spiritual enrichment to the Putonghua-speaking people in Hong Kong as he lets God unfold His plan for outreach to the Chinese people.
There is a need now to reach out and help build up a strong relationship between congregation members and God through home groups, disciple training, and worship.
Looking forward to the future we hope and pray for strong growth in congregational fellowship, disciple training, leadership training, followed by numerical growth in Home groups, home group facilitators and other leaders.
